Beyond the Border Working Group - Cross Border Mobility
CERC and Worldwide ERC® have established a cross border working group to identify issues surrounding the movement of talent between Canada and the U.S. and to explore solutions. CERC is pleased that over the past several months that working group has been able to draft recommendations to present to both the U.S. and Canadian governments.

President Obama and Prime Minister Harper helped to expedite our work when they met earlier this year. At that meeting they agreed to find ways to improve trade between Canada and the U.S. and announced the “Beyond the Border Working Group”. Both governments announced public consultations. Workforce mobility is “absolutely” on the table as part of these discussions.Consultations on the issue have been delayed in Canada until after the Federal Election scheduled for May 2.
Late last week CERC and W®ERC agreed to submit a joint letter to the U.S. Department of Commerce as part of the U.S. consultation process. We will make a similar submission to the Canadian government once the consultations open up following the Federal election
