For many years CERC has been promoting solutions for greater mobility of the workforce between provincial jurisdictions. In 2008 CERC highlighted the challenges of interprovincial mobility in the course of its National Symposia. Through efforts of the business community, and groups such as CERC, governments are responding. It is expected that by April 1, 2009 all of the provincial governments will implement an accord that provides for open mobility of the workforce across provincial boundaries. In 2009 CERC will continue to press for change in provincial practices, such as health care coverage, which are a barrier for employees and their families relocating to Canada and for Canadians returning from overseas assignments.
