Pacific Region 2019 Kickoff: Learn & Mingle

The Canadian Employee Relocation Council (CERC) Pacific Regional Committee is pleased to present a highly informative expert panel to explore the hot topic of Data Privacy within mobility, which will continue to grow in importance in 2019 as the mobility industry continues to evolve its strategy.   As mobile employees travel the world, they expect support from their employer, and all of their service providers responsible for safeguarding their personal and confidential information. Companies have a fiduciary responsibility with respect to protecting personal and confidential data of their employees. Part of this responsibility includes working with trusted partners and vendors that are putting data privacy and security at the forefront of their operations.  Related, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requires compliance for any individual within the European Union.  Is your organization staying ahead of these challenges? What is the response of the Mobility Industry? Is your privacy policy up to date? Are you familiar with the differences between controllers and processors of personal data and do you have the necessary data protection agreements in place?

In this information-packed session, leading experts from all corners of the Mobility industry will provide facts and insights on what companies must and should be doing regarding personal data protection in 2019 and beyond.

About the Session

The featured speaker, Jim Cormier, Senior Counsel at VeraSafe, a leading data privacy firm with whom Bristol Global Mobility is partnering for their own data privacy strategy will provide a detailed, expert global data privacy overview and also relate issues back to Canadian companies in particular.  Paul Seymour, GMS CRP, VP, Bristol Global Mobility will then translate how a leading Relocation Management Company is working with them to forge their own strategy in protecting their customers’ data.  The COO / Chief Data Privacy and Security officer of Global Tax Network, Craig Dexheimer, will add the perspective of a global tax accounting firm specializing in Mobility, and finally NOVA Chemicals Corporation will bring the corporate perspective. John Demetri, Senior Tax Manager at Wolrige Mahon Collins Barrow LLP will be discussing the main changes to US and Canadian tax laws to consider from a global mobility perspective followed by an update of the CERC committee’s plan for events in 2019.
