It is with great sadness and regret that I write to advise that the CERC National Conference scheduled to take place in Vancouver, September 20-22 has been cancelled due to the COVID pandemic. The health and safety of our delegates, employees, hotel staff and speakers is our first priority.

The Government of British Columbia announced on May 6 that there are to be no public gatherings of more than 50 people, until there is a (COVID-19) vaccine in place or community immunity has developed. Since that time we have been discussing our options with the hotel and the reality is that this is a force majeure and the conference simply cannot go forward as planned.

We are currently preparing options for moving forward with a virtual conference (or series of virtual sessions over a number of weeks). We are hopeful that we may also be able to present some in-person sessions with the support from the Regional Event Committees, later in the fall – subject to regional protocols regarding in-person meetings.

We will keep you updated as our plans take shape in the coming weeks.

I thank you for your continued support of CERC.

Best regards,

Stephen Cryne
President & CEO
