The next - and possibly most consequential - step in the government's efforts to tighten Canada's Temporary Foreign Worker regime is coming into force in a few weeks' time. Starting December 1, employers will face the possibility of significant Administrative Monetary Penalties (AMPs) and lengthier suspensions from the temporary foreign worker program for failing to meet obligations relating to the TFW program. New Administrative Monetary Penalties can reach up to $1 million and include lifetime employer bans from accessing the TFW program as a result of failing to meet the ongoing obligations employers face in relation to hiring TFWs, both LMIA-based and LMIA-exempt.
